I spent 15 minutes yesterday reading the Wikipedia pages for Family Matters, Steven Urkel and Stefan Urquelle. Very informative. Did you know that originally Reginald VelJohnson was supposed to play the same character he played in the Die Hard movies? And that in the show Detective John McClane was supposed to visit the family on occasion? Because of licensing issues we were denied the possible pairing of Bruce Willis and Jaleel White, and we are all poorer for it.
While the site did not put to rest my unease about the disappearance of Judy Winslow , I'm happy to now know that Laura chooses Steve over Stefan in the final season, like, to get married to. Whoah.
Also, as for your Urkel moment, I had mine when I found out that Jodie Sweetin is a divorced meth addict. Also, she's like, umm, totally voluptuous or something.
how can you not mention the single most important fact about family matters, i.e., that it was spun off from "perfect strangers" (which has one of the greatest theme songs of all time)?
dude, jodie sweetin remarried and already has a baby. how rude!
If America doesn't know that Harriet Winslow was the elevator operator in Balky and Mark's office in Perfect Strangers, the terrorists have already won.

E, Why would I mention what every red-blooded American should already know? I was scratching below the surface.
ReplyDeletei think you're vastly overstating the nation's interest in sitcoms based in the windy city.

ReplyDeletenah, my informal survey of one person just revealed that no, justin (which justin are you), not EVERYONE knows this.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I just had lunch with Mark and his lovely wife Adrianne. They agree with me and Justin.
