Ride it, Donaghy--Ride it Straight to Hell

Having been inefficient and distracted all day, I decided to stick it out in the office a bit longer tonight. I was plugging along before the ground--or rather the 34 floors of building beneath me--shook, and you know, it's true: you can take the kid out of the city, but you can't take the city out of the kid; Hand to God, my first thought was maybe that was the F-train passing by.

I'm jealous! I didn't get to feel one the whole time I lived there.

I was in one while eating lunch with several people on the 17th floor of the US District Court building in LA. Was your building on rollers like that one? It was like being at the top of the mast of a very tall ship at sea. Also the rolling effect lasts longer than the actual quake, as the building takes time to settle back down. Spooky/scary!

Yeah, the building's on rollers or ball bearings or something. Apparently, this is where you want to be if there's an earthquake--inside, especially, if the windows start popping out of the Bank of America building on California Street.
