It really perplexes me that the New Yorker, at one time a stodgy literary magazine with a white-shoe sense of humor but now a fine forum for investigative journalism (See Hersh, Coll, Boo, etc.) continues to publish "Shouts & Murmurs" at all. That section is easily the most embarrassing part of the magazine; Even Woody Allen comes off as a half-wit in those pages, and frankly, that's being generous. Come on, Remnick: Poach someone from the Daily Show, and make that bit respectable. Or scrap it.
