mea culpa

i recently chastized my friend heidi for wanting to clerk for an "indie rock" judge (y'know, watches deadwood and stuff). but this makes me want to watch network news some more. what more can you ask for? the man is such a dreamboat. he's like 100 ft tall, has all of his original hair, is simultaneously self-possessed and self-effacing. well, so he mystic tans a little. what do you want? he's a news anchor, not a research lab assistant. all in all, swoon.

yeah, you can take chris botti and shove it up your low ratings, katie couric. you too, moon vest.

He also participates in a really interesting, really informed deconstruction of The Sopranos on Slate. And, oh my god, the hair...

However, has anyone in our generation watched network news in the last decade? When is it even on? I know Brian Williams exclusively from his Daily Show appearances.

one day we'll discover his horribly disfigured portrait in his attic.

as much as i wax poetic about him, his blog is seriously boring:

Today our travelling team got caught up in one of those travel delay stories that we so often report. Our United red-eye from Los Angeles fell victim to weather, a crippled aviation system and an over-stressed JFK Airport. We arrived close to seven hours late. As a result, I am just now getting to the newsroom, and it's already mid-afternoon.

zzz...what? sorry. too busy staring at your hair.

i think the new york magazine article on katie couric said they are all known for not writing their own news blogs (i still think anderson cooper writes his charming ones, but anyway), but i agree with c4ts, when i discovered his slate columns on the sopranos i fell completely in love with bw. he was witty, insightful and humble. i think his south jersey origins may explain his offensively orange skin color?
