james franco. it is awfully close to april fool's, but not close enough for this to be a complete joke: james franco is pursuing a phD at yale (?)! as if writing that short story and getting all them other degrees weren't enough.

Don't read too much into this. I heard Harold Bloom just really likes the psycho-sexual Shakespearean elements of Pineapple Express, so he pulled some strings.
Franco is living the dream -- using his good looks to write bad short stories and gain admission into bad-ass doctoral programs. He is basically reinventing (and gaying up slightly) the old Ethan Hawke move. Welcome to the winter of our discontent? (Reality Bites Reference, 2010.)
